40th Mike Connors Trial

2018 SOUTH AUSTRALIAN RELIABILITY TRIALS CHAMPIONSHIP – ROUND 2! THE 40TH MICK CONNORS RELIABILITY TRIAL, run by the KEYNETON MCC

This Saturday, May 26th, sees round 2 of the 2018 South Australian Reliability Trials Championships, the Keyneton MCC’s Mick Connors Reliability Trial being run, starting from the Keyneton MCC Clubrooms on Flaxmans Valley Road at Wilton.
The first bike will start at 9.01am and head off on a 6 hour journey that will take in a 3 hour lap around the northern verges of the Barossa Valley; Wilton-Angaston-Moculta-Truro-Keyneton-Wilton, with 7 paddock sections (off road special tests) per lap in this all daytime event.
This is the 58th time the Keyneton MCC has run their annual reliability trial, with 2018 also seeing the Keyneton MCC celebrate the 40th running of the event in memory of Michael (Mike, Mick) Connors, the 1976 24 Hour Trial winner who passed away in June of 1977 after a road accident at only 18 years of age. This was 3 weeks before the 1977 24 Hour Trial and Mike never got the chance to defend his ’76 win.
A number of riders will be out to pay tribute to Mick this weekend, including Keyneton MCC Life Member, Shane Kraft, who will lead the solo field out onto the course riding a Yamaha TT500, the same bike Mick rode to victory in 1976. A number of other riders will also ride older bikes in this anniversary event, including the current KMCC President, Christopher Paunola, who, with Melissa Rogers, will ride the Yamaha TT600 sidecar that won the 1985 24 hour Trial with Leigh Hollamby & Craig Saegenschnitter on board!
To catch all the action – head out to the Keyneton MCC Clubrooms and grab an egg & bacon sanga, a coffee and a programme, which will tell you all you need to know in regards to who is riding and where the best spots to catch the action are (spectator paddocks) – and then head back to the Clubrooms to welcome home the riders at the end of their journey from 3.00pm(ish) – and grab a feed from the awesome catering the Keyneton MCC will have on site!
ENTRY TO ALL POINTS OF THIS EVENT IS FREE TO ALL SPECTATORS!
