BRETT METCALFE RETURNING HOME FOR ADELAIDE ROUND OF AUSTRALIAN SUPERCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP

Australian international Supercross ace Brett Metcalfe is jetting home to contest round three of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship, which descends on the expansive green infield of the Adelaide Showground at Wayville on Saturday, October 31.

Originally from Mannum and a South Australian through and through, Metcalfe’s appearance might just help lift the lid off the grandstand as the locals cheer on one of their all-time favourite motorcycling sons.

It’s almost 20 years since local fans will have seen Metcalfe race Supercross on home soil, and his flying visit to race back in Adelaide has been made possible with the support of local businesses Energy Logistix and SD3 Auto, in tandem with Championship round promoter Mark Gilbert.

“It’s awesome that Supercross is back at Adelaide,” enthuses Metcalfe.

“I actually grew up watching it at Wayville before I had the chance to race.

“The venue is massive and will allow for a proper full-size Supercross track and I am excited to be a part of its return.”

Metcalfe has been based in the USA since 2003 and has been the consummate professional, racing with KTM, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda and Kawasaki factory teams and consistently stamping his name amongst the world’s best, in both AMA motocross and Supercross racing.

In recent seasons he has taken his considerable talents to the Canadian national championships, and again kept his name up the front of the pack, finishing third in this year’s Canadian motocross series

Now he’s taking up the invite to race at home, and he’s grasped the chance with open arms.

“I am finalising everything and have started training to be fully ready for Supercross in Adelaide,” explains Metcalfe, who will contest the Red Bull Rhythm event in California before flying Down Under.

“I am looking forward to coming home to race and seeing my family.”

And in return thousands of South Aussie Supercross fans will look forward to heading to Wayville to see Metty and cheer him on come October 31.
