For the 2nd year running, young South Aussie gun, Alex Larwood will be the sole South Australian at the 2018 Junior Motocross World Championship at Horsham in Victoria this weekend.
After representing Australia in Europe in 2017 Alex has again been selected in the official Australian Team. In 2017 he finished 12th Overall, which for a first World Championship event, was a fantastic effort!
At 14 years of age, the Australian Champion, will have a huge task to repeat his previous result, as he will be racing against riders up to 3 years older than him in the 125cc class. Strength and stamina may come into play as the weekend goes on, but with his track record of fighting to the end and giving 100% Alex is sure to be in the mix.
Joining Alex in the 125cc class for Australia will be; Liam Andrews, Regan Duffy, Blake Fox, Dante Hyam, Jack Kukas, Bailey Malkiewicz and Korey McMahon
Alex’ selection is well deserved and he heads to the Championships in good form, having won the final 3 rounds of the 2018 SA MX Championships. His recent performances have been the ideal run up for the World Championships, although he only finished 5th overall in the local championships after missing round 1.
For all those heading over, or thinking of heading over this weekend, Horsham is about a 5 hour drive from Adelaide, but if you can’t make it to Horsham, you can catch all the live action on the Horsham Motorcycle Club website;
Motorcycling SA, along with the whole motorcycling community of SA, would like to wish our MSA Elite Rider Squad member all the best this weekend, and we look forward to following his progress over the course of the Championships.
Results will be able to be found here; www.fim-live.com/en/sport/sport/junior-motocross
